XR Tutorial 06

XR Tutorial 06

This week I learned about locomotion in VR, locomotion is the way the player traverses the game scene and allows them to explore. This lesson consisted of different components that allowed the player to perform these moves. These were snap turn provider, teleportation provider, and finally the teleportation anchor.
Simply by hovering your hand over the set area, the player will get a colour indicator on the hand and when they use the grip button they teleport to that spot. This makes traversing around the room simple and quick, there is also another option for continuous movement but that will more than likely make people sick since they aren't moving in real life.

The rug was one of the places that the player could freely teleport around on, the whole room wasn't fully free. There were a couple of mats laid down around the room and these were set as anchor points.
Another thing that helped mobility around the room was the snap turning this was done by just adding another component and assigning the XR Rig to it.

Also made a couple of upgrades to the room. I added different reticles for the teleportation anchors on the mats scattered around the room.
