Project Progress: Final

Week 12 Launching Project Solis This is the launching of Project Solis, this is a simple app for people to learn more about the solar system, the thing that would separate it from google is the fact the player can traverse the scene this is a lot more interesting than just reading text on the internet. When it comes to trying to get the gameplay footage for this project I had loads of problems when I tried to connect the headset to my laptop using the Oculus link, as usual, it didn't work and I was stuck with the endless 3 dots so I had to export my build to this application called "SideQuest" then I was able to import the game file from that app directly to the Oculus headset and from there I recorded, as usual, the gameplay using Oculus's building in capture system then exported it onto the SideQuest app and from there I could upload it to youtube. Enjoy the gameplay :) https://youtu.be/FWKGOwqBEb8

Official Chapter Doing wk 12

Week 12 Doing the launching of the Book This week is the final week where we finally show off our chapters, it was a strange journey since I've never written any academic books or anything that was to be taken seriously. Im happy with how my chapter turned out in the end I feel as if it holds some value for new knowledge on the topic of online gaming and Co-op multiplayer in both storylines and relationships online. There were a couple of problems that I had with structuring it, in the beginning it sounded like a blog post. Here is the final chapter Author Bio My Chapter dives deep into social interactions in gaming, talking about Multiplayer co-op as well as how online gaming affects players in and outside of the game. Ill also be talking about co-op games with competitive teamwork or storylines that involve two people working as a team and how they can bring people together. Intro: Do you ever wonder how Co-op Multiplayer and Co-op storylines affect the gamers of today? There are

Project Progress: Alpha wk 11

Week 23 Alpha This week for my project is all about refining things for my game, some things that I want to work on is the text and facts that the user will come accross. There are some things that are displayed wrong in my opinion with the text fields, On these text boxes i have a transparent glass behind the glass to make it easier to differentiate between the sky box and the text. This works really well but when I finished all the text boxes I realised that the text overflows the transparent panel  I also added a slight tilt on the panel to make it easier for the viewer to see the information on the panel for better UI, I didn't want the infromation to be directly vertical and beside the planet because this would make it harder for the player to read, this would mean that i'd have to make the panel larger to see making the scene more cluttered, so i thought it better to have it smaller and more consise as a small table infront of the user.  Something that inspired me with th

Coming to the end of Doing

Week 23 Reading 11 We're coming to the end of process for the chapter in the book and these final weeks are all about refining the piece and fine tuning. Some of the things I want to have within the coming weeks is a full chapter with a propper start and end as well as provide a better information structure. Author Bio My Chapter dives deep into social interactions in gaming, talking about Multiplayer co-op as well as how online gaming affects players in and outside of the game. Ill also be talking about co-op games with competitive teamwork or storylines that involve two people working as a team and how they can bring people together. Intro: Do you ever wonder how Co-op Multiplayer and Co-op storylines affects the gamers of today? There are a lot of factors that go into gaming today and it affects the public in different ways Does this affect gamers self esteem? Does it promote teamwork? Lets talk about it. Social interaction is becoming more important in recent years. Recent stud

First Playable wk 10

Week 22 First Playable This week I was bringing in multiple different ways to make the project sharper This project is coming to its final weeks and there's one thing im worried about,  the textures not showing up in the scene. I've looked all over youtube and tried everything and nothing showed up, at first I thought it was the textures, but I realized it wasn't the case when I tried other textures and assets. Im planning to bring this up with my lecturer during the refinement week. Separating my Planets into different categories makes organizing my scene so much easier. It makes adding text easier to find as well as makes the project look better when working on it, wish I did this sooner. This week is based all on adding info text for each planet and the sun, I want to make these interactive so that the player can click dismiss and bring up the information again.

Week 22 Doing it again & again This week we will be our thoughts on what we worked on so far in our chapters for the book. Author Bio My Chapter dives deep into social interactions in gaming, talking about Multiplayer co-op as well as how online gaming affects players in and outside of the game. Ill also be talking about co-op games with competitive teamwork or storylines that involve two people working as a team and how they can bring people together. My thoughts I think that im on the right path for my chapter, I like the headings to each paragraph and the information that they give. I think that people reading them would learn something new or find better knowledge on each topic. I feel that some of these topics carry over to real life and highlight how much they affect these gamers, especially the topic of mental health, as well as gamers, feeling a part of a group. That feeling of belonging or being part of a society has proven to increase self-esteem and mood, this is really

Project Progress: Prototype wk 9

Week 21 Prototype wk 9 This week im progressing from the game design document, finally making a start on the game Project Solis. This week I laid foundations by bringing in assets to set the scene. I took a milky way skybox asset as well as some planets and the Sun.  All was going smoothly with the skybox and the sun until realized that the planets I added don't show up with textures in the scene Leaving them a purple, pink colour although its a nice colour it isn't what im going for when it comes to the planet Mercury  The sun is the only asset out of the package that shows up, In the scene, there are teleport mats scattered around so that the player can get better viewing angles of the planets, so far I have one mat beside where I intend to have the planets. I think the milky way skybox really brings it all together.  Something that I want to have completed next week for the prototype would be the info text on each planet and responsive UI to offer a better user experience. Week 21 Doing it yet again This week our task is to go and look at blogs from two classmates and provide feedback on how they're doing with their chapters. This will be an in-depth review. Over the last couple of weeks ive been looking at pieces of work from Tudor and David. We all put our work on this google doc so that we can review work. While I was looking at Tudors work I could tell that he could format his work properly, everything was on tract and straight to the point, all of the introduction leading up to the info was short and concise while still engageing the readers to read what he has to say. Feedback for Tudor Something that I think tudor could improve on is his conclusion, I think his approach to upon learning better ways to do a conculsion, I believe he can make the conclusion more appealing to the readers, one way it could be improved is talking about the info gathered in a way that he isnt directly saying "in conclusion", saying it in more of a natural w
